The second-place Memorial Sea-Hawks are on the road this weekend, travelling to Moncton to take on the Aigles Bleus. Currently in fourth, the Aigles Bleus clinched a playoff berth last weekend, taking some of the stress out of this final tune-up heading into the post-season.
The Sea-Hawks are very much in the same situation. They clinched prior to their matches with Dalhousie two weeks ago, and have been in the process of getting playoff ready since. With that said, there's no expectation that either team is going to be a taking a weekend off. Memorial is looking to iron out some final wrinkles in their play, and lock up the second overall seed in the AUS standings. The Aigles Bleus have scrapped and gutted their way into a playoff spot, and fully understand the importance of staying ready.
This game features two of the premiere players in the conference, Jill Snow for Memorial and Christelle Bertin for Moncton. Both players lead their respective teams in points per set, as well as aggregate points. Snow is of course the reigning MVP in the AUS, a well-established force in the conference. Bertin on the other hand, is an up and coming star for the Aigles Bleus; one that Moncton can build a true contender around.
Expect both sides to be focused and ready to compete this weekend. While there isn't much to play for in the standings, both teams will want to build on their strengths and disguise any weaknesses heading into what should be a tightly contested AUS playoff. The games are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday start times are 7:00 PM AST while Sunday's game will begin at 1:00 PM AST. Catch them live on AUStv.ca
