Sea-Hawks host huskies

The Memorial Sea-Hawks women's volleyball team will host the Saint Mary's Huskies this weekend for a three game series beginning Friday evening at The Field House.

The weekend series will be the Sea-Hawks first home regular season action of the season.  Memorial hosted the Guelph Gryphons for two preseason games in late October, winning both matches.

They will be in tough versus a Saint Mary's team that currently sits in second place in the AUS with a 5 and 2 record, while Memorial finds themselves in fourth place with a 2 and 3 record.  The Huskies will be led by Kristina Adler who ranks first on her team in kills per set with a 2.67 average and digs with 91.

Memorial will once again be led by fifth year outside hitter Jill Snow.  Snow ranks first in the AUS in kills per set with a 3.53 average and third in conference scoring averaging 3.9 points per set.

Sea-Hawks coach John Slauenwhite says the team has been working hard since returning from the league tournament and is ready to compete this weekend.

"Our team has been working hard over the last two weeks since returning from the AUS League Tournament in Halifax. The Huskies are going to be a tough opponent, but we are looking forward to the challenge this weekend at home."

The Sea-Hawks played well in their preseason matches in front of the home crowd and Slauenwhite believes being at home will help his team this weekend.

"Playing at home is an advantage in the AUS and something we are looking forward to. We have a very strong volleyball community and always great fan support at all of our home events."

The Sea-Hawks and Huskies play their first game on Friday night at 7:00pm followed by a rematch on Saturday at 6:00pm.  The series concludes on Sunday with a 12:00pm matchup.  All games will be played at The Field House and tickets are available at the ticket office.  Games will also be webcast live on www.AUStv.ca.
