Memorial heads to Dal for 5 game weekend

The women's AUS volleyball season gets underway this weekend at Dalhousie University with a new six team opening weekend tournament.  The tournament features all six AUS women's volleyball teams and each team will play five games over three days.

The Sea-Hawks are coming off a 2nd place finish last season and will look to better that result this season. Head Coach John Slauenwhite says his team is looking forward to starting a new season and views this weekend as one that will be challenging, but something his squad is looking forward to.

"We have had a strong week of practice and everyone is excited to start the season this weekend. Our goal going into the weekend is simple. Win the tournament. In saying that, the team understands that the entire season is a process, and that we need to keep our season goals in mind."

The Sea-Hawks will be led by fifth year outside hitter Jill Snow, who is coming of a spectacular season, which saw her named the AUS MVP.  Memorial has a lot of depth on their squad behind Snow, which includes AUS Rookie of the Year Kier Fey, second year setter Maiya Westwood, and fourth year transfer Kassie Menzies at Libero.

The Sea-Hawks play their first match at 1:30pm local time versus the Acadia Axewomen and can be watched live on AUStv.ca.
