Sea-Hawks to Face Cape Breton and St.FX

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (3-1-0) make another road trip this weekend, they will face the Cape Breton Capers (3-0-0) and the St. FX X-Women (4-0-0). The Sea-Hawks split their road trip last weekend and will now look to give the Capers and X-Women their first blemish of the season.

The Sea-Hawks flaunt the 3rd best record in the AUS, with the Capers and X-Women being the only teams in front of them. Sea-Hawks forward Claire Langille recorded a goal last weekend (2nd goal of the season) in her team's 3-0 victory over the Saint Mary's Huskies, good enough to earn her Memorial Female Athlete of the Week honours. Heading into this weekend's games Langille described the team's mindset heading into the weekend "This team is definitely looking to stay strong this weekend and do our best to get 6 points", she also credited her team's work ethic "It's an awesome group of girls and we give it our all every game". Langille and the team's leading scorer Katie Joyce (1G, 2A) will look to lead the Sea-Hawks to victories this weekend.

The first matchup of the weekend is set for 1:00 PM ADT on Saturday when the Sea-Hawks face the Cape Breton Capers, a team that has able to find the back of the net with ease so far this season, in just 3 games the Capers have scored a total of 16 goals - good for tops in the AUS. The Sea-Hawks defenders will have to watch out for Capers forward Alliyah Rowe who's 4 goals lead the AUS, she's been able to score in every game she's appeared in so far this year. Containing her and the Capers explosive offence will be crucial if the Sea-Hawks want to walk away with a victory.

The road trip concludes with a mid-day matchup between the Sea-Hawks and the 1st place St. FX X-Women at 1:00 PM ADT. The dynamic duo of Amanda Smith and Brynn Jurus have been a big component to why the X-Women remain undefeated on the season. Smith has an AUS leading 4 goals, 5 points and 21 shots, while Jurus has 4 points, while registering an impressive 15 shots – good for 3rd in AUS. X-Women goalkeeper Christina Gentile has offered a steadying presence between the pipes, appearing in all 4 games and carrying a 0.824 save percentage which ranks 4th in the AUS. Another stern test for the Sea-Hawks in what should be a high-paced, exciting match.

The Sea-Hawks will have to play effectively at both ends of the pitch to potentially hand the Capers and X-Women their first blemishes of the season.
