The Memorial Sea-Hawks picked up their 2nd win in as many days over the UNB Reds, today the home team was able to walk away with a narrow 3-2 victory at King George V Park.
Today's game was played with a lot of pace, plenty of scoring chances and despite the amount of goals that were scored, the goalkeepers made plenty of great saves. The visiting Reds would open the scoring in the 10th minute when Simon Basillion (1G) was able to find the ball in the box all alone in front and he successfully converted on the golden opportunity, his first goal of the season. The Reds would make the game 2-0 thanks to the first on the season for Roan Saenmeng (1G) on an assist by Matthew Quigley, it looked like there was potential for the Reds to run away with the game, but the resilient Sea-Hawks would claw their way back. Before the end of the first half Sea-Hawks forward Jacob Grant (4G, 2A) would score on a powerful strike from the side of the box that found its way past Reds goalkeeper Louis-Charles Vaillancourt. The Reds held the 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
The Sea-Hawks would come out of the half pressing the Reds defence and they would reap the rewards. Sea-Hawks midfielder Hashem Khalifa scored his first goal of the season, firing home a strong header off of a pretty corner kick from Emmanuel Dolo in the 52nd minute. The home side wouldn't waste much time to take the lead as defender Alex Dolomount would fire home his first of the season off a great feed from Dolo in the 57th minute, putting the Sea-Hawks in front 3-2. After they took the lead the Sea-Hawks were able to lock the Reds down defensively, not allowing them to get many good looks on goalkeeper Dylan Critchton, who only faced 2 shots on the day. It was a different story for Reds goalkeeper Louis-Charles Vaillancourt who had to make some big saves late to keep the game close, he stopped 5 of the 8 shots that were directed on net.
Sea-Hawks forward Emmanuel Dolo was a catalyst for the Sea-Hawks offence throughout the match, constantly making great passes to his teammates and as a result he was able to pick up 2 assists. Dolo's 14 points (8G, 6A) still lead the nation, his ability to create offence is unmatched.
