The Memorial Sea-Hawks (3-3-1) got back in the win column with a dramatic 3-1 victory over the UNB Reds (5-2-0) on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the King George V Park.
Both the Sea-Hawks and Reds got into the action early in today's match, Sea-Hawks forward Jacob Grant opened the scoring in the 3rd minute off a tremendous feed from Emmanuel Dolo, shortly after, the Reds would respond on a penalty goal by Tom Pheulpin in the 6th minute. After an exciting start to the match, both sides would enter the second half deadlocked at 1.
The Sea-Hawks would come out of the halftime break full of energy, once again Jacob Grant (3G, 2A) would score his second of the game in the 59th minute off another great feed by Emmanuel Dolo. Sea-Hawks captain Harry Carter (3G) would add another goal to the home team's cause delivering a gorgeous header off a Sea-Hawks corner kick in the 64th minute. The Reds didn't back down without a fight, controlling play for the majority of the last 20 minutes of the match, however, the Sea-Hawks defence was too strong today and the Reds would exit the game with their lone goal. Sea-Hawks goalkeeper Dylan Critchton grabbed his 3rd victory of the season, making 4 saves on the 5 shots he faced, while Reds goalkeeper Louis-Charles Vaillancourt made plenty of huge saves throughout the duration of the game, finishing with 10 saves on 13 shots.
Jacob Grant led the Sea-Hawks attack throughout the majority of the game and was awarded for his two-goal effort with the Player of the Game.
The Sea-Hawks and Reds will meet once again Sunday afternoon at 2:45 PM ADT at King George V Park.
