The Memorial Sea-Hawks are proud to announce the addition of 3 top local talents to commence the recruiting class of 2026. Joining the squad are Malik Snook, Cole Hynes, and Ryan Mouland.
"I am excited to secure commitments from our three top targets from the Team NL Canada Games roster" remarks Coach Alex McNutt. "Obviously each year you have priorities to recruit for specific positions, however in this case we really wanted to look past that and ensure that we found the top local talent to add to our roster, setting us up for success in the long term."
Malik Snook - St. John's, NL
Malik Snook is a talented and promising young centre back, and brings height and composure to the defensive line, as well as a cultured left foot. Malik is proud to join Sea-Hawks following in the footsteps of his father who played varsity volleyball for Memorial. Snook will graduate from Holy Heart High School and also played for Feildians Athletic Association before captaining Team NL at Canada Games. Snook's chosen field of study is a Bachelor of Commerce and he explains what attracted him to Memorial. "To stay close to home, pursue a degree in business, and play high level soccer.
Coach McNutt believes "Malik reads the game really well and makes good decisions which are huge qualities for a central defender. The combination of physical, technical and tactical attributes that he possesses make him a very exciting one to watch for the future! Additionally, he has leadership qualities which is a huge factor for his position from where he can organise the team."
Cole Hynes – St. John's, NL
"Cole is a winger that possesses great pace and likes to take on defenders 1v1 to create scoring opportunities. He has the potential to be a real threat over time at the AUS level if he works hard during his first couple of years to build on the solid foundations he already has "says Coach McNutt. Cole is a Gonzaga High school student and has come through the ranks with Feildians Athletic Association. Cole is most looking forward to "getting to play with new teammates and playing at a higher level of soccer" and believes he can help by " creating scoring opportunities for the team."
Ryan Mouland – Middle Cove, NL
"Ryan is also a winger that is not afraid to take his man on, but also combines well with team mates to offer an offensive threat. He is a smart player that is also hard working and all of these qualities lead me to believe he can eventually make a big contribution if he dedicates himself to reach his fullest potential" says Coach McNutt. "There are a lot of parallels with Cole and Ryan. Both are Gonzaga High School boys that have played for Feildians and were key players and top performers on the wings for Team NL in last year's Canada Games". Mouland will study Engineering and looks forward to "the level of soccer that the Sea-Hawks play at along with meeting new teammates. I am looking to bring a lot of speed and energy to the squad and be a good team player."
The Sea-Hawks will open their Fall 2026 campain at home on Saturday, September 5th, 3:30pm vs this visiting Acadia Axmen at the Fortis Complex. The team's full 2026 AUS schedule can be found here.
