The Memorial Sea-Hawks are extremely pleased to announce the signing of exciting prospect Theo Vieira. The talented midfielder hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba and has spent his early years as a member of Winnipeg South End United, the Valour F.C. Academy, and E&E Sports Management. Vieira enjoyed a greatly successful 2022 season with plenty of accomplishments. He captured the 2022 SX Cup and U17 Premier League 1 Championship with the Valour FC Academy, and he was also awarded the E&E Sports Management 2022 Winter Combine MVP.
Standing at 6'5", Vieira is an intriguing talent that has caught the eye of head coach Jake Stanford in a variety of ways, "Theo has size in his 6'5" frame but what I like and was impressed about what his ability to be dynamic in his technical skills in keeping the ball and allowing his team to keep possession". Stanford is impressed with Vieira's refined skills, something that should allow him to succeed in his transition to University soccer. Stanford also praised the energy that Vieira brings to the pitch: "He has a great energy and enthusiasm for the game and with a hard work ethic he will be a welcome addition", something that should endear him to his Sea-Hawks teammates. Vieira also views his game in a similar way in regard to his best skills and attributes, "I want to be a workhorse that just keeps pushing" said Vieira.
One of the aspects of the team that resonated to Vieira is the team's makeup in respect to both coaches and players, "I am most excited to be surrounded by coaches and players that all want to see everyone get better individually and as a team", said Vieira. "I am excited to be surrounded by coaches and players that all want to see everyone get better. Joining a team with a great coaching staff and a motivated group of guys that want to win was a perfect fit for me." With Vieira's tenacity and hardworking tendencies, he's aiming to be a contributor from day 1 as a Sea-Hawk.
Currently a student at Grant Park High School, Theo will study Education at Memorial, with plans on becoming a teacher in the future. "Academically the University has everything I am looking for and it seems like a very friendly learning environment that will set me up well for the future" he said.
