Sea-Hawks head to Halifax for DAL/SMU Invitational

The Memorial Sea-Hawks cross-country teams will head to Halifax, Nova Scotia this weekend to participate in the DAL/SMU Invitational hosted at Point Pleasant Park. The women's 5km race will begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, to be followed by the men's 6km race at 12:45pm.

This will be the second road trip of the season for the Sea-Hawks after strong individual and team performances at the Acadia Invitational on September 17th.  The Sea-Hawks men's team finished first at that event with Matt Power (Dunville, NL) taking down first place.

According to Sea-Hawks Head Coach Art Meaney this will be a more challenging event due to the fact that AUS powerhouse StFX will also be competing this weekend.  StFX was in Maine for competition during the Acadia Invitational.  Nevertheless, Meaney feels that Matt Power and Jordan Fewer will push hard to reach the podium for the Sea-Hawks.  The Sea-Hawks men's team will send seven runners to compete this weekend, which includes Power and Fewer, as well as Seamus Boyd-Porter, Mike Scott, Zack Putt, Kyle MacLeod, and rookie Jacopo Fragasso.

The women's team will be lead by Nicole Hollohan and Megan Ryan, who both finished in the top twelve at Acadia and will likely lead the team again this weekend.  Also competing for the women's team are Jenny Brace, Emily Hickey, and Victoria Healey, who according to Coach Meaney, have looked strong in recent practices and should move up the standings in Halifax.
