(Moncton, NB) The Memorial Sea-Hawks women's volleyball team finished the AUS League Tournament with 2 wins and 3 losses, which gives the team a 5-3 record on the season. The tournament was hosted by the Moncton Aigles Bleus and featured all six AUS teams.
Memorial 3 – Moncton 2 - Thursday, November 16th
Memorial 0 – Dalhousie 3 - Friday, November 17th
Memorial 3 – UNB 1 - Saturday, November 18th
Memorial 1 – Acadia 3 - Saturday, November 18th
Memorial 1 – Saint Mary's 3 - Sunday, November 19th
Despite the 2 and 3 record, Sea-Hawks Coach John Slauenwhite felt his team performed well, especially having to deal with leading scorer Kier Fey suffering an injury before the team left for Moncton.
"I was extremely happy with how our team stepped up and competed throughout the AUS tournament in Moncton this past weekend. We suffered a tough injury to one of our key players (Leading scorer Kier Fey) just hours before departing for the weekend. I felt the team rallied and gave ourselves an opportunity to be successful against every team.
Memorial remains in second place in the AUS with a 5-3 record. The team plays their next action at Saint Mary's on January 12th.
"The team has a 5-3 record going into the break, which is identical to the record we had last year at the midpoint of the season. Although we would have liked having another win or two, we are very satisfied with our first half success," says Slauenwhite.
