The 2017 Subway AUS Championships start this weekend, hosted by UNB.
The full schedule of events can be found at - http://atlanticuniversitysport.com/sports/mswim/2017-18/championship/index. The preliminaries begin Friday morning at 10:00 AM, and the events wrap up late Sunday evening.
The Sea-Hawks will be sending 17 athletes to the event. Jessica Dyson (Gander, NL), Jasmine Foran (Bathurst, NB), Emily Ford (St. John's, NL), Vanessa Legge (Mount Pearl, NL), Laura Pittman (St. John's, NL), Veronica Reid (Williams Lake, BC), and Alison Somers (Carbonear, NL) will be there representing the women's side. For the men, it's Ryan George (Deer Lake, NL), Sam Leawood (Mount Pearl, NL), Curtis McKay (St. John's, NL), Matthew Rose (CBS, NL), Logan Slade (St. John's, NL), Daniel Sparkes (Corner Brook, NL), Nicholas Sparkes (Corner Brook, NL), Ronald Sutherland (Quispamsis, NB), Evan Tynski (Summerside, PEI), Youssef Zaazou (St. John's, NL).
The Sea-Hawks had a strong showing at the Dalhousie Invitational in Halifax, NS last month and hope to translate that into some medals at the championships this weekend.
On the women's side, Jasmine Foran and Veronica Reid are anticipated to make multiple visits to the podium. While for the men, Sam Leawood will look to close out his 5th year as a Sea-Hawk with medals in multiple events. Coaches Duffy Earle and Chris Roberts are looking forward to the weekend and expect strong results from the team.
