The Memorial Sea-Hawks women's basketball team travels to Quebec this weekend for their final preseason matches before the start of the AUS regular season.
The Sea-Hawks hosted Winnipeg, Alberta, and Ryerson this past weekend as part of the 2nd Annual Marie's Mini Mart Fall Classic, but were unable to secure a victory. Despite going winless, Head Coach Mark English saw a lot of positives from his team, but knows they need to play better defense to get the results they want.
"We are going to need to remain focused on the defensive end of the floor this weekend. As a team we will be looking to be committed to winning the glass each game, and continue to build on our fast pace style of play on offence. We had a ton of good things happen this past weekend at home, and I feel if we can clean up some of our mistakes we will give ourselves a great chance to end our preseason on a positive note."
Memorial will play their first game on Friday afternoon versus the Brock Badgers from the OUA conference. They play again on Saturday afternoon against the UPEI Panthers. The Hawks wrap up the weekend versus the Laval Rouge et Or, who were are the U Sports National Runner-Up last season.
The Sea-Hawks open their season on the road versus the Acadia Axewomen on Saturday, November 4th.
