Recruitment
Put on the red and white and get in the game.
The Memorial University Sea~Hawks athletic program gives
student-athletes an opportunity to continue their pursuit of
sporting and athletic triumphs. At Memorial you’ll find male
and female varsity sports teams in soccer, cross-country running,
volleyball, basketball, swimming and wrestling. These teams compete
in the Atlantic
University Sport (AUS) conference with champions heading to the
Canadian Interuniversity Sport
(CIS) championships.
Where we are is who we are.
Reflect on that statement for a moment: “Where we are is
w
ho we are.”
Newfoundland and
Labrador is vast with natural beauty…set on the north
Atlantic coast, at the easternmost portion of Canada. Where we
are–our vast geography, rugged terrain, amazing vistas,
pristine nature and sprawling coastlines–help make this
province unique and special. What better location to push yourself
to your limits than an island that is right on the edge of the
world.
Become at Memorial.
Memorial students are
explorers by nature. Over 17,000 of them, from over 80 countries.
When you choose Memorial University, you’ll find that the
opportunities for learning are endless. Memorial is the largest
university in Atlantic Canada and you’ll find the largest of
our four campuses in the capital city of St. John’s.
The past is prelude.
You do not have to go far
to see the athletic history of Memorial. One look into the rafters
of the Field House will show you that we have been there, in the
championship game, with the conference title on the line, and we
walked away with the title. Walking through the halls of the
Physical Education and Recreation Building you will find Butler
Row. Future Sea~Hawks aspire to have their name and photo on Butler
Row with the other championship teams and All-Canadians in the
history of Memorial. Our athletic past is the prelude of the great
things to come.
Home court advantage.
The future of athletics at Memorial has never been b
righter, with more
support for athletes than ever before, including access to world
class facilities. The Field House, the home court in basketball and
volleyball is a 1,400 seat facility that provides new meaning to
the term “home court advantage”.
We have a team of experts ready to give athletes the edge they need to reach new heights. Specialized exercise programs, strength and conditioning, and fitness testing allows athletes the regimen they need to continually improve.
Allied Health Services
offers athletic therapy, sport medical services, sport massage
therapy, and sport dietetics. These services allow athletes to
train, recover and rehabilitate to ensure that they can constantly
push themselves to the edge.
Show me the money.
There are a small number of
financial athletic awards and scholarships available to
student-athletes. These awards are administered on the
recommendations of our coaches and the amounts available vary from
sport to sport. Student-athletes must meet all of the eligibility
requirements on Athletic Financial Aid.
Plan your journey.
