MacDonald and McIlroy off to CIS Championship

Graham MacDonald and Caroline McIlroy will be off to Western University this weekend to represent Memorial in the CIS Cross Country Championship on Saturday.

 

McIlroy's fine season to culminate at CIS Championship

 

McIlroy will be the lone woman travelling to Western University to compete in the final national meet.

 

Caroline McIlroyIn AUS competition she finished consistently in the top three this season.

 

McIlroy earned her spot at the CIS championship by achieving AUS all-star status at the end of October in the AUS Championship hosted by Dalhousie. She claimed bronze in the women's 5k event.

 

McIlroy will be competing in her second national meet after finishing 32nd overall in a deep field at Laval last fall.

 

Start time of the women's race is 12 p.m. on Saturday in London, Ontario.

 

MacDonald to race in first national championship meet

Graham MacDonald will compete in his first CIS Cross Country Championship meet this weekend at Western University.

 

Graham MacDonaldMacDonald will be the lone Memorial runner in the field but it will not be the first time he has ran solo this season. On Thanksgiving weekend he ran in the Acadia cross country meet and won.

 

MacDonald qualified for CIS after finishing seventh in the AUS Championship 10k race.

 

The field at the CIS Championship is extremely deep so a finish in the top fifty will be a notable accomplishment for MacDonald.

 

The men's CIS championship race will begin at 12:45pm on Saturday in London.
