Sea-Hawks to compete at Acadia this weekend
The Memorial women’s volleyball team will travel to Wolfville this weekend for a pair of games against the Acadia Axewomen. The games will be the first time the teams have met since the 2011-12 season as last year’s games were cancelled due to weather on the final weekend of the regular season.
The Sea-Hawks are 1-5 on the season. The team is coming off a home win against Moncton that went five sets. Fourth year Sam March (pictured on right) was a big contributor in the win versus Moncton and is currently ninth in the AUS in kills per set with 2.17. She also has the fifth most digs in the league.
Memorial has a balanced roster this season that could see a variety of players step up to lead the team to victory.
The Axewomen have started the season 2-2. They have defeated Saint Mary’s and Moncton and lost to Dalhousie and UNB. Fifth year right side Meg Rector is a player to watch for Acadia with the second most kills (47) in the conference.
The series will open on Saturday at 7 p.m. with the teams back on the court at 1 p.m.
