AUS Championship this weekend

(Oct. 30, 2013) The Memorial women’s soccer team will compete as the fifth seed in this weekend’s 2013 Subway AUS Women’s Soccer Championship in Moncton.


The Sea-Hawks will open the tournament on Friday at 11 a.m. (Atlantic time) in a quarterfinal match against the fourth seeded UPEI Panthers.


Memorial went 1-0-1 against the Panthers this season. Sea-Hawks rookie standout Jane Pope was player of the game in both games.


Jane PopeThird seeded Acadia will play the hosts and six seed, Mount Allison Mounties in the other quarterfinal at 2 p.m. Friday.


The championship semi-finals will take place on Saturday with Cape Breton taking on the lowest remaining seed at 11 a.m. and Dalhousie taking on the highest remaining seed at 2 p.m.


The championship final will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday on Moncton’s Rocky Stone field.


It is the first trip for the Memorial women’s soccer team in five seasons.


All tournament games will be webcast at
