Women's volleyball team looking to gain momentum in Cape Breton
The women's volleyball team are off to Nova Scotia to face the Cape Breton Capers in a two game series in AUS competition.
This weekend is Memorial's (3-9) second road trip in a row with Coach Bill Thistle expecting a pair of wins against Cape Breton (1-13) as they look to hit their stride heading into the stretch run in regular season play.
Memorial is coming off a pair of road losses to Moncton. The 'Hawks will look to find their game early in this matchup, reduce service errors, and execute their attack.
Setters Hayley Brenmer and Gill Ricketts will set for Coach Bill Thistle this weekend. Brenmer and Ricketts' hard work in practice is coming through on game days as they set up the offense, with 65 assists between them in last week's series.
Rookie Jill Snow will look to continue her strong first campaign with the Sea-Hawks coming off a 16 dig effort against the Aigles-Bleues.
Veteran middles Angela Peddle and Chantel Jones have been big for Memorial so far this season. Both players are in the top five in the AUS in hitting percentage. Jones is widening the gap in the blocks per set category in the league with 1.50 per set and Peddle fifth at 1.05 per set.
