Swimmers off to Dalhousie
The Memorial swim teams travel to Dalplex in Halifax to compete in the AUS invitational hosted by Dalhousie University this weekend.
Swimming for the women this weekend will be 5th year Dayna Hogan who is aiming for a CIS Championship qualifying time in the sprint freestyle events to start the season and score points in the 200m and 400m freestyles.
Second year Mykala Pardy will be competing in the freestyle events this weekend. Also travelling to Halifax this weekend are rookies Samantha Tucker, Jenny Stark, and Jillian Doucet. Tucker will be swimming the backstroke and freestyle mid-distance events, with Stark swimming in the breaststrokes, and Doucet in sprint free and back.
Swimming in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke is rookie David Haines who will be looking to qualify for the CIS Championships in all distances. Haines should also be close to breaking the Sea-Hawks records in the 100m and 200m backstroke.
Traveling with Haines is second year Peter Gregory. Gregory will be in the medal hunt in the 200m backstroke and will be close to medals in the 50m backstroke and 1500m freestyle.
Second year Brandon McKay will be racing for CIS qualification in the 50m and 100m breaststrokes and will look to be in the points in the 200m freestyle and 200m IM as well.
Looking to the medal podium in the 50m and 100m breaststroke is fourth year Ryan Allen. Allen should be a strong competitor in the 200m IM and 50m fly.
Matthew Avis, Matt Roberts, and Mason Jeddore will all be joining the team in Halifax this weekend to compete. Avis will be competing in the freestyle events. While, Roberts competes in IM and backstroke and Mason competes in butterflies. Avis, Roberts, and Jeddore should score points in their swims.
