Sea-Hawks soccer teams off to PEI

The Memorial soccer teams will travel to Charlottetown this weekend for a series against the UPEI Panthers on Saturday and Sunday.


Women’s Soccer

The Memorial women’s soccer team (4-2-1) will take on the UPEI Panthers (3-0-3) Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. in AUS women’s soccer action in Charlottetown.


Jane PopeLast season the teams split their season series with one win apiece.


The Sea-Hawks are coming off a weekend home series against the Acadia Axewomen where Jane Pope’s (photo on right) fifth goal of the season in the 88th minute of play on Sunday salvaged a draw that kept them in fifth place in the AUS, one point ahead of the Panthers.


The team will look to hand the Panthers their first loss of the season but will have to get the ball past Panther keeper Ashley McKenna who has four clean sheets on the season and boasts a .40 GAA.



Men’s Soccer


The Memorial men’s soccer team (1-5-1) matches up against the UPEI Panthers (0-3-3) Saturday at 5:15 p.m. and Sunday at 1:15 p.m. in AUS men’s soccer action this weekend in Charlottetown.


Jordi SlaneyThe Sea-Hawks are coming off of a dramatic home win against the Axemen Sunday that saw the Sea-Hawks leading scorer Jordi Slaney (photo on right) net his second and third goals of the season and grab player of the game honours for a second straight match.


The team will look to carry the momentum of their gutsy Sunday performance to PEI and move further up the standings against the winless Panthers.
