Memorial to host Acadia in AUS soccer

Women’s Soccer

Alexe Morgan (photo by Bronte James)The Memorial women’s soccer team (4-1-0) will host the Acadia Axewomen (3-2-1) in a weekend series Saturday and Sunday at King George Vth Park in AUS women’s soccer action.

 

The Sea-Hawks are coming off a successful three game weekend road trip through New Brunswick where they went 2-1. Rookie Jane Pope scored a pair of goals on the weekend to give her four on the young season, which places her second in conference scoring behind Cape Breton’s Karolyne Blain. 

 

Acadia’s leading scorer is Kathleen Ross with 3 goals.

 

Rookie Meghan Earle, a native of Mount Pearl, has scored two goals in only four games for the Axewomen. Game times this weekend are Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. at King George the Vth Park.

 

 

Men’s Soccer

The Sea-Hawks men’s soccer team (0-4-1) will host the Axemen (3-2-1) this weekend in AUS action at King George the Vth Park.

 

Aaron AnsteyIn Memorial’s last game they came away with a point after battling Mount Allison to a 2-2 draw. Brother’s Stefan and Jordi Slaney, from St. Lawrence, were the goal scorers in the game for the Sea-Hawks. Stefan now has a team-leading 2 goals on the year.

 

Cochrane Noseworthy-Smith is Acadia’s biggest scoring threat. The midfielder has 3 goals, including two game-winners, this season.

 

The men’s games will get underway on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. and Sunday at 1:15 p.m. at King George Vth Park.
