Annual three game road trip this weekend
(Sept. 19, 2013) The Memorial soccer teams will hit the road for their annual three game trip to the Maritimes. The teams will play at UNB, Moncton and Mount Allison respectively.
The Memorial women’s soccer team (2-0-1) will embark on a three game weekend road trip in New Brunswick with stops at UNB (1-1-2), Moncton (3-1-0) and Mount Allison (0-4-0) where they will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The unbeaten Sea-Hawks are coming off an opening weekend sweep of the Saint Mary’s Huskies at King George Vth Park where they outscored their opponent 5-0 over the two wins. The first game of the weekend road trip will take place Friday evening at 5 p.m. in Fredericton against the Varsity Reds. Last season UNB finished eighth in the conference with a record of 2-5-6.
The Sea-Hawks will then board the bus for the trip to Moncton where they will compete against les Aigles Bleues at noon Saturday. After an opening day loss to StFX, Moncton has won three games in a row. Last season they finished fourth in the conference with a record of 5-6-2.
The final game of the trip will be in Sackville where the Sea-Hawks play the winless Mounties at 11 a.m. Last season the Mounties finished in sixth, making the AUS playoffs with a record of 5-6-2.
The Sea-Hawks next home games will be September 28th and 29th against Acadia.
The Sea-Hawks men’s soccer team will embark on their annual three game road trip this weekend with games in UNB, Moncton and Mount Allison. The Sea-Hawks lost both of their opening games to first place Saint Mary’s by scores of 1-0.
They will open the weekend with a trip to Fredericton where they will play the Varsity Reds (2-1-1) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday evening. UNB finished as the top team in the AUS regular season with a record of 9-3-1.
Memorial will then travel to Moncton to play les Aigles Bleus (2-0-2) at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Moncton finished last season 6-5-2 which put them in fourth place in the AUS.
The Sea-Hawks will wrap up the weekend journey in Sackville on Sunday where they will play the Mounties (1-3-0) at 1:15 p.m. Mount Allison finished last season ninth in the conference with a record of 3-7-3.
The Sea-Hawks will return home next weekend for a pair of games against the Acadia Axemen on Saturday and Sunday at King George the Vth Park.
