Men's Vollleyball open season in Montreal this weekend
The Memorial men's volleyball team will be off to Montreal this weekend to open the 2012-13 AUS men's volleyball season in the first interlock tournament against the teams of the Quebec conference (RSEQ).
The Sea-Hawks are coming off a good preseason that they finished with a 2-2 record.
The Sea-Hawks will get a good test in their first match as they play the fifth ranked team in the country in Laval on Friday night at 6 p.m. Laval are coming off a very successful preseason tournament at Penn State where they upset 2011 NCAA champion Ohio State 3-1.
Memorial will then play Montreal on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Sea-Hawks beat the Carabins last November at the Field House by a score of 3-1.
The Sea-Hawks will close out the weekend against Sherbrooke in the evening draw on Saturday at 8 p.m. Memorial were 0-3 against Sherbrooke last season but hope to compete with them more closely this season.
The Sea-Hawks will be led by fifth year seniors Drew Stephens and Brad Pitcher. Stephens is coming off an all-star season while Pitcher is Memorial's steadiest player and one of the leaders of the team.
