Fans of Sea-Hawks basketball will get their first look at the 2012-13 Memorial women's and men's basketball teams this weekend at the Field House. Women's Basketball

The women's basketball team will host Concordia for a two game set. The matchup between Memorial and Concordia should be fairly even as both teams finished .500 last season. The Sea-Hawks have plenty of new faces to join a solid returning core.

Amanda MartretReturning this year for Doug Partridge's Memorial team are Ally Forsey, Grace Fishbein, Sam Kavanagh, Emily Jameson, Kim Devison, Kelia Pond, Megan Robinson, Marika Vanden Elzen, and Rebecca Amo Mensah.

New faces who will see their first action are Sea-Hawks are Sandra Amoah, Katheriine Vanden Elzen, Carolyn Adams, and Nancy Hernandez Basurto.

Coach Partridge expects the weekend series to be a good tune-up for AUS competition. It will give him an opportunity to get all of his players on to the court and see how they respond to the pace of Canadian interuniversity competition.

A player to watch for on Concordia is Kaylah Barrett, a 5'7 guard, who led the Quebec conference in scoring last season with 17.4 points per game.

Concordia competes in the Quebec conference and did not compete against Memorial last season.

Game times are 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday night at the Field House.

Men's Basketball

The Memorial men's basketball team will get their first exhibition action against a team of Memorial basketball alumni.

Justin AllimanThe Sea-Hawks have a good mix of returning talent and new faces. Returning for Coach Peter Benoite are Justin Alliman, Theo Stanoev, Caleb Gould, Ryan Wood, Timo Sargent, D'Avontai Moore, Tyree Haley, and Noel Moffatt.

Supporters of the team will need their roster cards to check out the new players in the lineup. The team will get some added size in the paint. The 2012-13 rookie crop includes Alpha Kishusi, Cory Cooper, Chris Henderson, Bruno Mendonca, Jake Hynes, Keegan MacNeill, and Drake Kinnunen. Henderson is 6'9 while Kinnunen is 6'7.
