RSEQ outperform AUS at first men's volleyball interlock

The teams of the Quebec conference (RSEQ) outperformed the teams of the AUS in the first men's volleyball interlock tournament this weekend in Montreal. The Sea-Hawks came away 0-3 on the weekend while the Quebec teams took seven of the nine matches against their Atlantic counterparts.


Friday Laval 3 Memorial 0 (boxscore)

Memorial opened their weekend with a 3-0 loss to Laval University, who are one of the top five teams in the country.


Set scores were 25-14, 25-15, and 25-15.


Brad PitcherDrew Stephens led Memorial with 11 kills in the loss while Nathan Tilley had six. Brad Pitcher had 22 assists.


Frederic Mondou led Laval with 11 kills in the win. Jeremie Lortie had 9 kills, 4 digs and two blocks.


Saturday Montreal 3 Memorial 0 (boxscore)

The host Montreal Carabins used a diverse attack to hand Memorial a 3-0 loss on Saturday afternoon in Montreal.


The teams played a tightly contested opening set that Montreal won 25-22. The momentum stayed with the Carabins despite a few spirited rallies by the Sea-Hawks as the hosts claimed the second and third sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-22 respectively.


Three Carabins had double-figures in kills as Mathieu Belisle led the way we 12 and Felix Liboiron-Samson and Mohammad Rashid added 11 and 10 respectively.


For Memorial Nathan Tilley and Drew Stephens each had a team-high seven kills. Nicholas Hann had a team-high 4 digs in the loss. Brad Pitcher has 21 assists.


Saturday Sherbrooke 3 Memorial 0 (boxscore)

In the Saturday evening draw the Sherbrooke Vert et Or sent Memorial away with a third loss to end the weekend. Set scores were 25-17, 25-17, 25-20.


Nicholas Hann led the Sea-Hawks with six digs in the loss. Stephens had a team-high 5 kills.


Etienne Levesque led Sherbrooke with a game-high 11 kills while Joel Beauregard had 45 assists.


The Sea-Hawks (0-3) will next play on November 3rd when they travel to Fredericton to play UNB for a weekend series.
