Sea-Hawks compete at Interlock
The Memorial men's volleyball team improved their competitiveness this weekend but came away winless at the third interlock tournament in Montreal.
Friday Laval 3 Memorial 1 (boxscore)
The Laval Rouge et Or opened the third interlock tournament of the season with a 3-1 victory over the Memorial Sea-Hawks in CIS men’s volleyball action in Montreal Friday. Set scores were 25-17, 17-25, 25-13, and 25-11.
Tommy Belisle led Laval with 12 kills and 4 blocks in the win. Sam Burt led Memorial with 8 kills and 7 digs in the loss.
Senior Nathan Tilley (pictured on right) added 6 kills while getting in on 8 blocks.
Saturday Sherbrooke 3 Memorial 1 (boxscore)
The host Sherbrooke Vert et Or handed the Memorial Sea-Hawks a 3-1 loss in CIS men’s volleyball action on Saturday morning in Montreal. Set scores were 25-20, 18-25, 25-20, and 25-18.
Daniel Moreau led Sherbrooke with 9 kills while Charles Tessier had 10 digs in the win.
Josh Ennis and Nathan Tilley led Memorial with 8 kills apiece. Rookie Alex Dodds added 26 assists and 8 digs for Memorial.
Saturday Montreal 3 Memorial 0 (boxscore)
The Montreal Carabins defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks in straight sets in the final match of the third interlock tournament on Saturday night. Set scores were 25-23, 25-15 and 25-23.
Saad Elbekri led the way for Montreal with 12 kills. Nathan Tilley had 10 kills for Memorial while Sam Burt added 7. Alex Dodds (pictured on right) continued to start at setter with 27 assists and 4 blocks.
Memorial will finish their season next weekend at the Field House against the UNB Varsity Reds. The matches will be the final home matches in the career of senior middle Nathan Tilley.
