Sea-Hawks men's volleyball compete against teams from Quebec
The Memorial men’s volleyball team finished the interlock tournament against the teams of the Quebec conference 0-3. The team lost to Sherbrooke, Laval and Montreal at the tournament hosted by Dalhousie.
Friday Sherbrooke 3 Memorial 0 (boxscore)
The Memorial men’s volleyball team opened their season with a 3-0 loss to Sherbrooke in the first game of the interlock tournament on Friday night in Halifax. Set scores were 25-17, 25-15, and 25-21.
Daniel Moreau led the Sherbrooke attack with 8 kills in the win.
Senior Nathan Tilley (pictured on right) had a game-high 11 kills in the loss. Josh Ennis added 5 kills. Rookie setter Blake Power had 18 assists.
Saturday Laval 3 Memorial 0 (boxscore)
Memorial lost to the reigning CIS Champion Laval University 3-0 on Saturday morning at the Dalplex in their second match of the interlock tournament. The Sea-Hawks started slow but managed to stick with the Rouge et Or in the second and third sets.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-23, and 25-23.
Bruno Lortie led a balanced Laval attack with 7 kills.
Josh Ennis led the Sea-Hawks with 6 kills. Blake Power (pictured on right) had 20 assists. Nathan Tilley, Alex Jurgenliemk and Ennis all had three blocks apiece.
Saturday Montreal 3 Memorial 0 (boxscore)
Montreal defeated Memorial 3-0 in the final game at the interlock tournament in Halifax on Saturday evening. Set scores were 25-21, 25-13, 25-11.
Montreal improved to 2-1 with the win. Alyson Francillon 9 kills and 7 digs to lead the Carabins to the victory.
Memorial finished the weekend 0-3.
Senior Nathan Tilley had 8 kills to lead Memorial. Nick Hann had 6 digs and Blake Power had 19 assists.
The Sea-Hawks will host Dalhousie in their homeopener on Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the Field House.
