Memorial loses pair of close ones to Capers
Saturday: Capers come back to top Sea-Hawks 76-71
Feb. 1, 2014 (St. John’s N.L.) The Cape Breton Capers came back from a eight point fourth quarter deficit to defeat the Memorial Sea-Hawks 76-71 in AUS men’s basketball on Saturday night in St. John’s. Seth Amoah scored 9 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Capers comeback.
Meshack Lufile led the Capers with 18 points in the win while Amoah added 15 to earn player of the game for the Capers. Vasilije Curcic led Memorial with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Alpha Kisusi had 14 points and 5 assists for the Sea-Hawks. Curcic was player of the game for the Sea-Hawks.
Memorial led 37-31 at the half.
Sunday: Cape Breton hangs on for 75-73 victory over Sea-Hawks
Feb. 2, 2014 (St. John’s N.L.) Seth Amoah’s 19 points led the Cape Breton Capers to a 75-73 victory over the Memoral Sea-Hawks in AUS men’s basketball on Sunday in St. John’s.
Meshack Lufile added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win for the Capers.
Vasilije Curcic was the top scorer for Memorial with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Alpha Kisusi had 19 points and 7 assists for the Sea-Hawks while playing all 40 minutes.
Memorial fell to 1-13 with the loss.
Cape Breton is now 7-8, good enough for sixth in the conference.
The Sea-Hawks will travel to Halifax for a pair of four-point games against the Dalhousie Tigers (3-11) next weekend.
