Memorial wins Atlantic championship

(Jan. 5, 2014) The Memorial University men’s curling team won the 2014 Atlantic University Championship after defeating Saint Mary’s 7-6 in 11 ends on Saturday night in Fredericton.

 

The team consists of skip Colin Thomas, mate Cory Schuh, second Chris Ford, and lead Spencer Wicks. The team is coached by Jeff Thomas.

 

Memorial went 2-0 in the five team bonspiel. In their opening match they defeated UPEI 9-4 on Friday night before defeating Saint Mary’s in the A final.

 

The team, along with UNB (winners of the B final), has earned a right to compete at the CIS Curling Championship to be held in Regina, Saskatchewan in March.

 

Memorial, with the same lineup, won the 2011 CIS Championship.
