Sea-Hawks advance to AUS semi-final with 72-62 win over Dalhousie

(March 8, 2013) Fredricton NB- In quarterfinal #1 of the Subway AUS women's basketball championship the Memorial Sea-Hawks defeated the Dalhousie Tigers by ten with a final score of 72-62. The Sea-Hawks will move on to tomorrow's semi-final game one at 6:00 pm against the Saint Mary's Huskies.


Grace FishbeinSubway player of the game from the Dalhousie Tigers was Tessa Stammberger, a 2nd year forward for the Tigers. Stammberger had 13 rebounds and a total of 21 points. The player of the game for the Sea-Hawks was Grace Fishbein (photo by Zack McKillop), a senior forward, with 5 rebounds and a game-high 26 points.


Senior Post, Ally Forsey led the game in rebounds, with 15 for the Sea-Hawks while rookie Sandra Amoah chipped in with a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. For the Tigers, 4th year forward Anna Von Maltzahn chipped in with 10 boards while first team AUS All-Star Keisha Brown added 19 points.


The host UNB Varsity Reds, the sixth seed, upset the third seeded Acadia Axewomen 66-60 in the other quarterfinal.


Memorial will play top-seeded Saint Mary's at 6 p.m. (Atlantic time) Saturday in the first semi-final. The Varsity Reds will take on second-seeded St. FX in the second semi-final at 8 p.m.
