Tilley named to CIS All-Rookie Team

Memorial University men’s volleyball player Nathan Tilley was named to the CIS All-Rookie team in an announcement made by Canadian Interuniversity Sport at the 2010 CIS Men’s Volleyball Championships in Kamloops, British Columbia. The middle blocker from St. John’s is the fourth Memorial men’s volleyball player to be named to the national All-Rookie team. He joins Shane Byrne in 2004-05, Paul Easton in 2007-08, and Scott Hickman in 2008-09. Tilley was also recognized last week as the Atlantic conference rookie of the year.

Tilley led the Sea-Hawks in hitting percentage this season (0.240) and ranked sixth in the AUS in that category. The 6’7 middle blocker also finished 13th in scoring (1.75 points per game) and 13th in blocks (0.44 per game).

Gander native Max Burt was also recognized in the announcement. Burt, a fourth year with Dalhousie, was named a second team All-Canadian for the second year in a row.
