Talented point guard commits to Memorial men's basketball team
The Memorial men’s basketball team has landed another talented recruit as point guard Emmanuel Kwofie from Ottawa, Ontario has decided to join the Sea-Hawks roster and study at the university next fall. Kwofie is a 5’11 product of Sacred Heart High School in Ottawa. He also is a member of the Ottawa Guardsmen, a renowned club team in Ontario.
Memorial head coach Peter Benoite feels that Kwofie is vey good fit for his program.
He said, “I’m very excited that Emmanuel will be joining our team next year. He is a defensive-minded point guard with an ability to lock down opposing guards. He plays with confidence, handles the ball very well and is very intelligent on the floor.”
Coach Benoite thinks that Kwofie will make the other players on the team better.
He said, “Emmanuel is a pass-first point guard who plays much bigger than his size. Even though he prefers to pass than score, he has shown that he has the ability to create and knock down shots. With his strength and work ethic he has the potential to be a premier guard for years to come. He will be a great complement to the additions we have already made to our roster, and certainly strengthens our recruiting class this year.”
Earlier this spring 6’7 wing/forward Jacob Ranton (Waterloo, ON) and 5’11 guard Daniel Foo (Corner Brook, NL) also committed to join the team next season.
