Memorial curlers to compete at CIS this weekend

CIS Curling Championship

Memorial University is being represented at the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championship taking place throughout this weekend at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. The Memorial entry will consist of skip Corey Schuh, third Stephen Ryan, second Chris Ford and lead Jamie Danbrook. The team will be coached by Ryan Ledrew, who skipped the Memorial entry the past two seasons.


The Memorial entry brings a lot of curling experience to the rink and will look to compete for the CIS Championship. The champion will represent Canada at the FISU Games in Turkey next February.


There are two pools of seven teams in the bonspiel which runs from March 10-14. Memorial are in Pool ‘B’ along with Calgary, Regina, Manitoba, Toronto, Wilfrid Laurier, and Dalhousie


Each pool will play a round robin within their own pool. At the conclusion of the individual round robins, the top team in Pool ‘A’ will face the 2nd place team from Pool ‘B’ and the top team from Pool ‘B’ will meet the 2nd place team in Pool ‘A’. The winners of these semi final games will advance to the championship final and the losers will be awarded the bronze medals.
