Speedy Sea~Hawks Rookies named Athletes of the Week
Cross-country athletes Caroline Mcllroy and Jordan Fewer are the Memorial University Athletes of the Week for the period ending September 26th, 2011.
Caroline Mcllroy ~ Women's Cross-Country
Major: Master of Science ~ Year: 1
Caroline Mcllroy is this week's Memorial University Subway female athlete of the week as she won the 5km women's title at the Acadia Invitational this past weekend held in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. In her AUS debut, Mcllroy hit the ground running, posting a time of 18 minutes, 15 seconds. She outpaced the rest of the competition by a substantial 46 seconds and in doing so led her team to a 2nd place overall finish.
Jordan Fewer ~ Men's Cross-Country
Major: Environmental Studies ~ Year: 1
Jordan Fewer is this week's Memorial University Subway male athlete of the week for his 9th place finish at the Acadia Invitational this past weekend. The first year environmental studies major posted an 8km time of 27:11 in his first AUS competition. Fewer's strong debut performance helped the Sea~Hawks finish with a respectable 3rd place showing at the Acadia Invitational.
The Sea~Hawks will not see competition again until mid October, as they will travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia to compete in the Dalhousie Invitational.
