Sea~Hawks Soccer Players Claim Athletes of the Week

Sea~Hawks Soccer players Maria Oliver and Steven DeLong are the Memorial University Subway Athletes of the Week for the period ending October 3rd, 2011.

Women's Soccer

Year: 2

Major: Business

     

Maria earned this week's Memorial University Subway female athlete of the week for her strong play during the weekend road trip. After missing the previous road trip due to a Hamstring injury, Oliver was able to provide the Sea~Hawks with her brand of assertive leadership during the three game weekend. In the 1-1 draw against Acadia, Oliver was named player of the game for her abilty to keep the team focussed during the driving rain. Throughout the entire weekend, Oliver was resilient and dominant in one on one play winning every 50-50 ball. Congratulations Maria for being named the Subway female athlete of the week for the first time in your Sea~Hawks career.

   

     

Steve DeLong

     

Men's Soccer

Major: Arts

     

Steve DeLong is this week's Memorial University Subway male athlete of the week. Stevie D continued to to pad his team scoring lead during the Sea~Hawks three-game road trip this past weekend. DeLong was a marathon man during throughout the weekend playing the entire 90 minutes each game. Steve had 1 goal and one assist and was the selection for Athlete of Week.

   

Thanksgiving break will put the season on hold for a week, but play will resume October 15th as the Sea~Hawks host the Mount Allison Mounties at King George Vth park.
