Fishbein and Hickman Named Subway Athletes of the Week
Basketball player Grace Fishbein and
volleyball player Scott Hickman
have been named the Memorial University Subway athletes of the week
for the week ending October 11th, 2009.
Female Athlete of the Week
Grace Fishbein
Team: Women’s Basketball
Major: Science
Sophomore wing Grace Fishbein is the Subway Memorial University
female athlete of the week for her performance during the
weekend’s three game exhibition series against Laurentian
University in St. John’s. Fishbein was instrumental in
propelling the Sea~Hawks to a series sweep. On Friday, the Waterloo
native led the way for the ‘Hawks with 18 points, 6 rebounds
and a game-high 3 steals. On Saturday, she had a team-high 9
rebounds to go with a number of key baskets. On Sunday, in a double
overtime thriller Fishbein once again showed a knack for coming up
with crucial baskets, netting eight of her 15 points in overtime.
She also added 7 assists and 7 rebounds.

of the Week
Scott Hickman
Team: Men’s Volleyball
Major: Arts
Sophomore volleyball player Scott Hickman is the Subway Memorial
University male athlete of the week for his big play in a Sea~Hawks
three game sweep of the Royal Military College in a weekend
exhibition series. Hickman, a 6’6 native of St. John’s,
showed why he was named to the 2008-09 CIS All-Rookie team, coming
up with kill after kill this weekend. Hickman, battling a finger
injury, was named player of the game in Friday’s straight set
victory. He led the team with eight kills in the match. His power
game at the net proved to be too much for RMC, giving them matchup
problems all weekend long.
