Steven DeLong

Men’s Soccer

Year: 2

Major: Arts

Steven DeLong, a second year forward with the men’s soccer team, is this week’s Memorial University Subway Male Athlete of the Week for his performance in a weekend sweep of the Acadia Axemen. In Saturday’s home opener, DeLong, a native of Yorkton, Saskatchewan scored the first two goals of the game, leading Memorial to a decisive 3-0 victory. On Sunday, DeLong once again showed his exceptional speed and finishing ability on his way to another two-goal performance in the Sea~Hawks 3-0 win. The four goals on the weekend give DeLong six on the season in only four games, good enough for second in the AUS scoring race. DeLong’s Sea~Hawks improved their record to 3-1 with the pair of wins over Acadia.

Erica Pritchett

Women’s Cross Country

Year: 5

Major: Medicine

Erica Pritchett made a successful return to Sea~Hawks Cross Country last weekend at the Dalhousie Invitational, finishing eighth overall with a fast time of 19:05 to give her the Memorial University Subway Athlete of the Week. The meet was the first of the season and Pritchett, the first Sea~Hawk across the line, and the only sub-twenty minute runner, paced the women’s team to a third overall finish. Pritchett, a medicine major, is in her final year of varsity eligibility and will be looked upon to lead a veteran Sea~Hawks team. Pritchett and her teammates will participate in this Saturday’s MUN Run 5k, a fundraiser run for Sea~Hawks Cross Country and Allied Health Services.
