Swimmers are Memorial University Subway Athletes of the Week
Leah Tomblin and David Forbes are the Subway Memorial University Athletes of the Week for the period ending November 21, 2010.

Leah Tomblin is the Memorial University Subway female athlete of the week for her performance at the Dalhousie AUS Invitational this weekend. Tomblin qualified for CIS Championship in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke events. She also found the podium in all three events with a first pace finish in the 100m backstroke and third place finishes in the 50m and 200m distance. Tomblin set a new provincial record in the 100m on Saturday with a time of 1:04.01. Later on the same day, Tomblin would break that new record and set a personal best with a blistering time of 1:03.98 to open the Memorial entry in the women’s 4X100m medley relay that went on to finish fourth.

David Forbes is the Memorial University Subway Athlete of the Week for his parade of podium finishes at this weekend’s AUS Invitational at Dalhousie. Forbes earned his way to the podium six times, while qualifying for the CIS Championship in three events. The Mount Pearl native took first place finishes in the 100m freestyle and the 50m backstroke, and second place in the 50m butterfly. The performances were all better than the CIS time standard, qualifying him for the championship at the end of the season. He also had third place performances in the 50m freestyle, and as a member of both the 4X100m medley and freestyle relay teams. The freestyle relay team also set a new provincial record, capping off a very successful meet for Forbes and the Sea~Hawks.
