Forsey and Pitcher Named Subway Athletes of the Week
Basketball player Ally Forsey and volleyball player Brad Pitcher have been named the Memorial University Subway athletes of the week for the week ending January 17th, 2010.
Female Athlete of the Week
Ally Forsey
Team: Women’s Basketball
Major: Arts
Ally Forsey is the Memorial University Subway female athlete of the
week for her outstanding performance in Sunday’s win over the
UPEI Panthers. Forsey put up 22 points and 9 rebounds in only 19
minutes of court time in the Sea~Hawks convincing 81-53 victory.
Forsey was dominant in the post, shooting 10 of 13 from the floor.
Forsey is eleventh in the AUS with 11.3 points per game and 6th in
rebounding with 6.8 rebounds per game. The Sea~Hawks are now 8-2
after the weekend sweep of the Panthers.
Male Athlete of the Week
Brad Pitcher
Team: Men’s Volleyball
Major: Business
Brad Pitcher is the Memorial University Subway male athlete of the
week for his steady play this weekend against Dalhousie. Though his
team did not find a win, Pitcher stood out for his consistency. The
sophomore from Clarenville had 32 assists and 15 digs in the two
matches. Pitcher is third in the AUS in assists with 7.03 per game.
The Sea~Hawks are next off to McGill to compete in the second
Interlock tournament this weekend against the teams of the Quebec
conference.
