Memorial University’s best student-athletes honoured in annual Athletic Awards Night

(April 3rd, 2014) Memorial University recognized the accomplishments of the top student-athletes, coaches and student trainers who participate in varsity athletics at the 54th annual Athletic Awards Night on Thursday at the Holiday Inn. Athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters of the Sea-Hawks were on hand as major award winners were announced. This year’s recipients of the Butler Trophy for the male and female varsity athletes of the year were cross country’s Caroline McIlroy and swimming’s Gavin Dyke. [Read More]

Gavin Dyke named AUS Rookie of the Year

(March 21,2014.) - Gavin Dyke has been named the 2013-14 AUS Male Rookie of the Year. The Mount Pearl native was selected for his outstanding rookie campaign which included a number of Provinical swimming records, the AUS Championships Male Rookie of the meet award qualifying for his first CIS Swimming Championships in four events, the 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m Freestyle. Women's basketball off to Charlottetown for AUS Championships




(March 6, 2014) The fourth seed Sea~Hawks (9-11) will take on the fifth seed Dalhousie Tigers (10-10) in the first quarterfinal game Friday night. The two teams split a four point series in early February on the Tigers home court. The rubber match being played at UPEI’s Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre should maintain a fast pace with plenty of scoring opportunities coming off of the fast break. [Read More]






Gonzaga standout Christian Greenland Commits to Sea~Hawks




(March 4, 2014) The Sea~Hawks men’s basketball team is adding some balance to their offensive attack in 2014-15. Shooting guard Christian Greenland of St. John’s has committed to Memorial for next season. Greenland, a 6’4, 225 lb shooting guard from Gonzaga High School will join the Sea~Hawks following graduation this spring bringing a shooting range that should stretch the floor for Memorial.
